Amethyst Class
Amethyst Class is a ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) base class, with a small sized class with a high staff to pupil ratio (eight children to four staff). We provide specialist support for our secondary aged pupils with additional needs with an ASD focus. We have lots of fun during our days, and we find that is the best way to learn! We want our pupils to want to come in to school and enjoy their days.
If your child is in Amethyst Class, they will access all the usual curriculum school subjects such as maths and English. In addition, a core part of our curriculum focuses on social and communication skills, movement, motor skills and life skills. We are aiming to prepare the children to be as independent as possible as young adults. We also aim to provide support for mental health through mindfulness, relaxation sessions and developing self understanding alongside resilience skills (e.g. through interoception learning).
